VR Escape Room FAQs

Bookings

We strongly recommend you book before visiting us as bookings have priority over walk-ins and wait times for walk-ins can be long. Booking in advance means you won’t need to wait for long. Payment is made at the time of booking and is non-refundable. We understand that things happen sometimes, so we’re happy to reschedule your booking if we receive the required notice, and will do our best to accommodate you. A $10 admin fee is charged when checking in for each time the booking is rescheduled. To cancel or reschedule a booking, we need to be informed during trading hours, and a minimum of 6 hours before your booking. This is so we can open time slots and allow other customers to book the time slots you previously had reserved.
As we run back-to-back sessions, we cannot always start a session late as it will cause the next session to run behind schedule and other customers will be left waiting. If it is possible, we can try to start a bit later. However, this cannot be guaranteed. If we are unable to get you started, bookings are forfeited. Please make sure you come on time! You should arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled session for check-in and orientation. If you are late you will have less time in the VR experience and there will probably not be enough time to finish your game.

Unfortunately, the games are designed for groups of 2, 4 or 6 players, which we cannot change. The software that runs our games will only allow us to launch sessions of 2, 4 or 6 players.

Headsets cannot be shared during a game sessions with others - each player requires their own headset. You cannot swap players halfway through an experience. Ticket prices are per player.
The VR escape room time limit is 60 minutes! The whole booking goes for about an hour as we need to go through our VR induction process and give players some time to familiarize themselves with the controls, playing area, and VR mechanics. You have 60 minutes to finish the game although the aim is to solve the riddle as soon as possible to get on top of the leaderboard.
Tickets cost $48 per person!
Bookings are live events and are non-refundable. Your booking reserves a number of spots in our booking calendar, stopping other customers from over-booking. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur and offer a credit for canceled or rescheduled bookings which are valid for 1 year. To cancel or reschedule a booking, we need to be informed during trading hours, and a minimum of 6 hours before your booking. Our Virtual Reality Escape rooms are only suitable for players that are at least 14 years old. Children under the age of 14 are not permitted to play.

Whilst we try to accommodate as many people as possible, VR escape rooms are not suitable for everyone.

Players must be 14 years old or older to play the VR escape rooms.

Anyone with the following medical conditions will not be able to play, to ensure their safety and the safety of others:

People with reduced mobility, or that are physically handicapped (You need to be able to walk around unassisted for up to 1 hour while wearing a headset. You will also need full use of both hands and legs),
Epilepsy or any similar conditions,
Hearing-impaired.

VR escape rooms are not recommended for people with the following conditions. Please consult your healthcare professional before making a booking:

Claustrophobia,
Heart conditions,
Pregnant,
Motion sickness,
Because the experience is very visual, visual impairment is a limitation.

Players under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to play and may be refused entry to the venue. Players who are refused entry are not entitled to credits or refunds for their booking.

You can play with 2, 4 or 6 people at the same time.
VR escape rooms are a multiplayer experience. You cannot escape alone! You will only share the experience with the other players who are part of your booking. If you are booking for a larger group (e.g. 6 players) you will be split into smaller teams as the maximum players per VR escape room is 4.
You should arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes before your scheduled booking for check-in and orientation.
You will only need to tell us your name when checking in. As some of the games have a minimum age requirement, proof of age may be requested so it is best to bring along a form of identification (e.g. driver’s license or student ID). If you are under 18 years old, you will need your parent or guardian to sign a waiver form for you and you will need to bring it with you. You do not need to bring anything else.

We are a licensed Venue; however, due to safety reasons, the consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited BEFORE starting your experience.

Please do not purchase alcohol at the Venue before your VR Escape Room booking. Any person who has, or is deemed to have, consumed alcohol before their VR Escape Room booking will not be allowed to play. There are no refunds if you are not allowed to play due to consuming alcohol.

No, VR is very safe! If you listen to the instructions and follow the rules while participating in the game or experience, it is completely safe.
Yes, definitely! You do not need to be a gamer or a technology geek. Our VR experiences are intuitive and made for everyone, from ages 14 to 100. Our VR Escape Rooms have different themes and levels but are mainly focused on cooperation between players. Our staff will give you a briefing before you start the experience, and they will be there the whole time if you need anything.
Absolutely – we will give you a short briefing when you arrive which covers general instructions and safety information. If it’s your first time playing and you’re unsure, we’ll run you through the equipment. First-time players are strongly encouraged to go through a short VR tutorial where they will learn how to use the controllers and navigate in the virtual environment. If you have any questions during your experience, we’re are always there to help. Either way, we are sure you will be an expert in no time!

At Glowing Rooms, we use the latest HTC VIVE PRO 2s which are currently recognized as the best technology for room-scale VR!

We are also equipped with the top-notch computing power to support high FPS 360° VR resolution, surround sound, and state-of-the-art tracking capabilities.

The simple answer is YES. Hygiene is incredibly important to us. The headset’s cushioning and the controllers are wiped down with Anti-Bacterial Wipes after each use. A new single-use disposable face shield is applied to each headset before every session. Hand sanitizer and wipes are readily available for staff and customers.
It is made for teams! You cannot escape alone. The key to a successful escape is to communicate and work as a team because everyone has a role to play.
Our experiences involve movement and activity, and you will be on your feet for an hour, so please wear comfortable clothes and appropriate footwear. That means no high heels or shoes that could hinder your movement. Pinned-up hairstyles are not recommended because of the VR headset strap.
Our game master is constantly monitoring your experience, and if requested can provide hints that assist with your team’s progression.
In your headset there will be a visual perimeter reflecting the real-life limitations of the playing area – this will help you to understand your space and keep you safe.
Our VR area is all on one level but inside the game you may find yourself walking on elevated platforms, or climbing up ropes. Our experiences can be challenging for people with a strong fear of height. However, they can also be incredibly rewarding to play!
Some technology and operators don’t have the latest technology or equipment. A combination of high latency, low frame rate, and poor technology is what causes dizziness or motion sickness. At Glowing Rooms, we use the latest in high-quality equipment, which results in either low or zero latency! The experiences we offer are carefully selected to minimize the risk of dizziness and motion sickness. We only use premium games, developed by internationally recognized industry leaders, so the likelihood of motion sickness or dizziness occurring is rather low. However, if you are susceptible to motive sickness, please be aware that there may be some discomfort. Our game master is always there to help you and answer any of your questions.
If you don’t feel comfortable or you want to stop the experience for whatever reason, you just need to tell your game master and they will pull you out of the game.

Accessibility

The VR headsets fit comfortably over most glasses without a problem. However, glasses come in many different shapes and sizes, and not all glasses may fit under the VR headset. It is best to wear contact lenses instead (if possible) to avoid damaging your glasses or the VR headset. There is no small print text or fine details in the VR experience. People with light visual impairment may not need their glasses.
During your game or experience, you will be wearing headphones that are part of the VR headset. In-ear hearing aids should be okay to fit under the headphones. However, we may refuse gameplay to some external hearing aids due to the risk of damaging the headset.

About The Venue

So that you can enjoy your game without having to worry about your belongings, we have secure lockers at the venue. We require a $5 refundable cash bond for locker keys.
Yes, we have tables and chairs in our cafe area where people can enjoy some refreshments or just sit and wait. We also have the amazing 3D Mini-golf available at the venue, which also usually takes about an hour!
